Articles and Essays:

Articles, written by law professors, judges and legal practitioners, serve an important purpose in that they express the ideas of legal experts with regard to the direction the law should take in certain areas. We encourage professionals to submit articles pertaining to ANY issue of law. We will also review and publish Essays. A piece will be considered an essay if it is 20 Journal pages or less in length, and its primary purpose is to advance an idea, to summarize a development or to initiate or engage in discussion. We strongly encourage authors to submit Essays for consideration.

Formatting Guidelines:

  1. We are looking for Articles between 10,000 and 15,000 words, excluding footnotes. However, we will accept articles upt to 25,000 words - which is the equivalent of about 50 Journal pages.
  2. Text should be 12 point font. Please use footnotes, rather than endnotes, and follow The Bluebook (18th ed.) citation guidelines.
  3. Please include a cover page with the title of your work and a brief biography of the author, no more than 250 words in length. To facilitate our anonymous review process, please do not include your name on the Article itself. Identifying information should be confined to the cover page.

We will notify authors of the decision by email. As a matter of policy, we do not discuss the reasons for our publication decisions.

Thank you for your interest in the Midwest Law Journal and we look forward to reviewing your submission
